Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Lisa Maki attended Loyola University of Chicago where she majored in both Political Science and English and received a minor in business.  She moved to California and received her Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University in Malibu, and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1992.  Immediately thereafter, she opened her own legal practice dedicated to protecting consumers and enforcing our State’s civil rights laws. 

        Lisa Maki is an officer (treasurer) and board member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and has been a member of its “President’s Club” since 2003.  She was CAOC's financial secretary from 2005-2007.  Ms. Maki is currently the Secretary of the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles and has served on its Board since 2004. 

        From 2002 – 2006 Lisa Maki sat on the Board of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and is currently serves on the Board of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Foundation.  Since 2003, Lisa Maki has served on the board of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and has been the Secretary of the Civil Justice Research and Education Project since 2005. 

        Also, Lisa Maki served on the board of the Finnish American Chamber of Commerce from 2002-2004 and served as an officer of the Pacific Palisades’ Community Council from 2000-2003. 

        Lisa Maki is a “Friend” of the Trial Lawyers Charities and is a Director level supporter of MOMA in Los Angeles.  She is also a member of the Consumer Attorneys’ Associations of California and Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers’ Association, the California Employment Lawyers’ Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice.  She also serves on the Legislative Committee of the California Employment Lawyers’ Association.

        Some of her published decisions in the employment law arena include Sheffield v. County of Los Angeles (2003) 104 Cal.App.4th 153 and Fennessy v. Southwest Airlines (1996) 91 F.3d 1359.  She has lectured/taught seminars for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the California and Los Angles Consumer Attorneys’ Associations, the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, the California Employment Lawyers’ Association, and the State Bar of California Labor and Employment Section. 

        Lisa Maki was awarded the Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Association’s Employment Lawyer of the Year in 2006 and has been a “Super Lawyer” for the past two (2) years.  In 2007, Lisa Maki was awarded the Consumer Attorneys of California's first ever “Street Figher” award and was nominated as trial lawyer of the year by the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles.
